Looking at a list of topics to explore here (… nature-based therapy! talking to your hairstylist about BFRBs! …) I wonder if it is a surprise that I am writing about billing first.
Surprise or not, I’m starting here because it has to do with access: Ways to make therapy more financially accessible.

Super bills
Super bills are essentially detailed receipts for psychotherapy services with an out-of-network clinician: An electronic document with the client’s (your) information, the practice’s (my) information, and a list of all the payments you have made so far or since the previous super bill.
You, the client, send the super bill to your insurance company, online.
Depending on the insurance company and your insurance plan, the insurance company may reimburse you for part of what you have paid for therapy.
The reimbursement may be determined by your deductible and allowed out-of-pocket amounts, which are good terms to look for on your insurance plan.
How to send the super bill: At One Nice Green Leaf, super bills are available each month in the client portal. Your insurance company will have the steps for submitting the super bill, likely found with information about out-of-network benefits.
Sliding-scale fees
Sliding-scale fees allow a client to receive the same services for a reduced fee. You can have reduced fees and still submit super bills – or one, or the other (or not at all).
At One Nice Green Leaf, the sliding-scale fees are dependent on your household income, with consideration to circumstances.
The fee for individual therapy is $130, and reduced-fee sessions are on a sliding scale from $40-$70. Likewise for group therapy, the fee is $40 and reduced-fee sessions are on a sliding scale from $10-$20. Reduced fees are available for workshops and weekly yoga sessions too.
How to apply for reduced fees: Contact me.
You can apply for reduced fees anytime, whether or not we have started our work together. And you do not need to apply every time you schedule a session or register for an event – the reduced fee is yours for all sessions and events until your income or circumstances change: So if you start individual therapy and have a reduced fee, that applies to group therapy, workshops, and yoga sessions too.
